Switzerland makes first 2018 foreign-language Oscar submission

First 2018 foreign language Oscar submission goes to Switzerland as the European country submitted ‘The Divine Order’ to be a representative.

The women’s suffrage dramedy directed by Petra Biondina Volpe will vie for an Oscar at the 90th Academy Awards with 85 films qualified for the foreign language film section of the event.

The film narrates the story of a young housewife challenging the status quo by fighting for women's suffrage in 1971 Switzerland.

‘The Divine Order’ garnered 2017 Swiss Film Award for Best Script, Best Actress (Marie Leuenberger), and Best Supporting Actress (Rachel Braunschweig).

The Oscars ceremony will be set up in Los Angeles on March 4, 2018.
